DRAWING PLUS: BEYOND THE BASICS

WITH VIRGINIA MACK

FEE: $30/session

You know that a masterpiece lurks within you, but it is elusive. You are a devoted artist, a painter, but each piece is missing something. What is it? How can you push to the next level?
You are ready to go Beyond the Basics. In Drawing Plus: Beyond the Basics, we will work our way through drawing exercises that will further awaken you to the dynamics of painting and drawing: composition, color interactions, the impact of choices of medium.
Join us. Your masterpiece awaits!

This is a series of workshops designed to be experienced in an open-ended way. You may continue as long as you wish, or try just one or two sessions. Each month, there will be a new series of dates for the sessions.

(If you are an experienced artist, you do not need to take Drawing Plus before taking these workshops.)

Basic materials will be supplied.

To enroll, contact Virginia by email: vbmack@charter.net or phone: 805-975-5374

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10TH, 17TH, & 24TH, 1:30PM – 4:30PM

IMG_20190518_122017559.jpgDRAWING PLUS

WITH VIRGINIA MACK

FEE: $35/session

You are on your kayak, on a walk, or in your yard. What you see before you grabs your attention. At this moment, some would pull out their cameras, but not you. You reach for your drawing pencils, pens, ink, and watercolors. You want to create your response to what you are seeing. This 3-part workshop will build the skills you need to do so.

Learn how to use materials fluidly, moving in and out of media as you respond to subject matter. We will build drawing skills while experimenting with interactions between media: ink work and watercolor washes, open color and pencil work, pen and ink, ink washes, and watercolor. Learn how to build basic forms, textures, and set mood. This class is for both beginning and experienced students. Basic materials provided for the first session.

To enroll, contact Virginia by email: vbmack@charter.net  or phone: 805-975-5374

CLASS: WATERCOLOR PAINTING

THURSDAY, JULY 25th; 10:30AM – 1PM (ongoing, every other Thursday, and once a month on Saturdays)

PAINTING IN WATERCOLOR WITH STRONG VALUES

flying_fish_bay.jpg

WITH HARWOOD “WOODY” BENTON

FEE: $45 one session
OR
$150 for 5 consecutive classes

Watercolor painting is the process of staining heavy paper with water based pigment. With practice and patience, you can learn to capture the subtle shapes and light in the world around you. Watercolor, at its best, is about being in the moment and finding the essence of a subject rather than getting caught up in all of the minute details. In this class, we will start from a blank page and learn to bring to life the subject of choice from start to finish. Woody will demonstrate technique and show you how to create relationships with strong values, guiding each person as they try their hands at this wonderful medium.

This class is for adults. You do not have to have any prior experience. Woody has inspired adults for decades to add this form of moving meditation to their self-care regime. Paper supplied, students supply their own paint & brushes.

To enroll, contact Woody Benton
