Workshop: Art Business – Cancelled, sorry!
Saturday, October 6, 12:30-3:30pm
Art Business 101 and Then Some – Lecture and Q & A
with Sydney Hall
Fee: $20/*$15 with student school ID

The workshop will be a lecture followed by Q & A and will focus on the fundamentals essential to striking out on your own as a fine artist and the business aspects essential to this endeavor.

This is about the real bare bones of choosing the path to be an artist and the business aspects which will be crucial for you to do so. We are talking a real life non-academia perspective from the gutter on up of the art biz as lived by a professional painter of 21 plus years. We will discuss and explore “all the hats” you will need to wear for this business to sustain itself, your product, marketing, budgeting, organizing and so much more… All manner of various tools you will need, including a thick skin and the ability to laugh at yourself. Please email me as far in advance as possible with a few of your questions for the Q & A. Be succinct, as I will be sorting through a gamut of them for us to discuss after the informational talk. We will have fun and laugh a lot as well, I am sure, as the life of an artist often contains a broad brushstroke of colorful anecdotes. I look forward to meeting you!

Class: Watercolor Painting
Thursdays, starting October 18, 11am-1pm
Painting Seascapes with Strong Values
with Harwood “Woody” Benton
Fee: $40 per class

5 classes:  10/18, 11/8, 11/15, 12/6 and 12/20.  Take one, two, or all!

Watercolor painting is the process of staining heavy paper with water based pigment. With practice and patience, you can learn to capture the subtle shapes and light in the world around you. Watercolor, at its best, is about being in the moment and finding the essence of a subject rather than getting caught up in all of the minute details. In this class, we will start from a blank page and learn to bring to life a seascape scene from start to finish. Woody will demonstrate technique and show you how to create relationships with strong values, guiding each person as they try their hands at this wonderful medium.

This class is for adults. You do not have to have any prior experience. Woody has inspired adults for decades to add this form of moving meditation to their self-care regime. Paper supplied, students supply their own paint & brushes. To enroll, please contact by e-mail: cerulean777@icloud.com.
