Sparking creativity…
Day-to-day stuff can totally get in the way of my ability to create. Something I used to do in college was to sit down with a couple of friends and pass a pad of paper back and forth – we’d draw for a while, then hand it to the next person. Not a particularly original idea, but it was always fun, and it would take the pressure off of feeling like we had to make a PERFECT PAINTING…. Ughhh. Nothing that nips my creativity in the bud faster than thinking about a frame size while I’m still trying to compose an image.
Would anyone consider coming in and sitting round a table with artists you may not even know? Draw for 5 minutes, then pass to the left?! Maybe with just graphite, or markers… nothing too intimidating. Does that idea appeal to you?
I’m trying to think of different ways to help spark creativity, but also help some artistic hermits get out of their studios, and laugh and play with other artists – if the desire to do so is there.
The only requirement? You must leave ALL judgment – of yourself and of others – at the door.
That sounds like so much fun! I would enjoy coming if I could get there and back by bus from Morro Bay, or had a buddy to drive me there. 😉
Great idea. I would join in. Like the comment about a portrait workshop also.
I think it sounds like an art happening! That could be a fun way of moving off the spot or climbing out of the rut weoften find ourselves in. The common sheet of paper sounds like a place to begin. Then, may I SUGGEST the paper or canvas could be passed with a task based on a common theme,ei. Hope fear, love, ect. The theme could change with each trip around the group or not. Lots of ideas, let’s get to get her and brain storm. See you first Friday. Ed

I don’t draw, play at painting. Mostly do mosaic and encaustic. Beginning to work with Pebeo mixed media. I’m inspired by other people being inspired. Any workshops except drawing are good for me. Love synergy and would like to stop being a hermit. Rae

I think this sounds like a great idea, what a fun way to get to know other artists in the area! If this ends up happening I would love to be a part of it. 🙂

I would interested in meeting some other artists and getting out of my own studio and my own head once in awhile! I’m gone until May 24 but after that…count me in!
Okay, I would be willing to contribute my scribbles. My interests for future classes would be in the realm of encaustic, collage and/or mixed media abstract painting. Nice that you are promoting learning and collaboration in your space.
