Calligraphy & Its History with Cheryl Barton

While learning calligraphic practices of several letterforms, this class will also look at the compelling history and evolution of the scripts we use today. Over four consecutive Fridays (starting Oct. 27th) you’ll learn calligraphic basics, the classic Uncial script used in SLO, the use of Versals in medieval manuscripts, and have a chance to design your own cards!

Craftmakers includes a variety of artists who work in fiber, clay, glass, metal, paper, and found objects. First formed in the mid-70s, the group exhibited work at the San Luis Art Center (now SLOMA), held meetings and classes, and offered studio visits. Craftmakers is now a member of the Central Coast Artists Collective, striving to enliven the art scene with imaginative pieces created with originality and skill.

Participating artists: Carolyn Chambers, Charlotte Daigle, Linda Elder, Kate Froman, Gina Gilbert, Gini Griffin, Sharon Harris, Barry Lundgren, M’Lou Mayo, Lauren Rayburn, Beryl Reichenberg, Maureen Wellard, Keasha Willingham

Art After Dark, a self-guided art walks hosted by SLO County Arts on the First Friday of each month countywide, gives the community an opportunity to experience visual, literary, and performing art in galleries and other venues every month.
