There is SO much to share with you!  Where to begin…?

First of all, as always, thanks to all of you for continued support and patronage.  Art Central is doing great, and it’s because of YOU!  Please let your friends know about our blog – the more people see it, the more we can do in our community!

Our gallery exhibit, “The Vine & the Wine”, will continue for its second month, and we are accepting additional amazing artwork!  If you’ve already brought in a piece, you don’t have to make any changes, but if you’d like to switch it with another, or add one, that’s fine too!  For all others, to be included in the August exhibit, please e-mail us at artcentral1329@yahoo.com to let us know what you’d like to put in and to receive the application form.  Drop off of work is Wed, Aug 1st, from 10am-4pm, and Art After Dark reception is Fri, Aug 3rd, from 6-8pm.

Our classes and workshops have begun, and some of them still have some room.  If you’re interested, please contact the teacher!!!  You can find all the info on our blog, or e-mail us at artcentralslo@yahoo.com and we’ll send you a copy of the class schedule.

WE ARE GETTING IN SO MUCH NEW PRODUCT IN THAT WE DON’T KNOW WHERE TO PUT IT! …  We brought in Golden Heavy Body Acrylics in, in 2 oz tubes, Jacquard Silk Color (green label), Jacquard Cotton & Poly Dyes (really cool – way better than some of those drugstore brands… I think I’m going to dye a pair of jeans a kind of lavender purple!)  We’ve gotten in some GORGEOUS new hardcover and spiral-bound journals, some w/watercolor paper, some with heavyweight smooth paper…  beautiful covers, yum, yum!!!   Also new on the floor are several “Best” Easels – these are works of art as well as fantastic easels – you won’t want to get paint on them, they’re so pretty!  New Drafting Tables, too!  We’ve gotten in Fabriano Watercolor Paper in 140lb Hot Press, and 300lb Cold Press in 22×30 sheets – about time, right?!!!   New brushes, a synthetic called “Neptune” a beautiful hair designed to mimic squirrel hair, and they are thirsty!  These are beautiful brushes – our regular member discount is 40% on them, BUT… if you mention you heard about them in this blog, we’ll give members 50% off – through the end of JULY!  And there is more coming in….  you’ve gotta stop by!

Make sure you check out our clearance/sale table – everything on there from a – z, most of it discounted at LEAST 50% – when I put something on sale, I don’t like to mess around!

(My exhibit, with Julie Dunn at Castoro Cellars in Templeton will be hanging through the end of this month.  Who says I can’t find the time to paint?!)

Here is some info on an exciting upcoming exhibit –  “CELEBRATE THE BEAUTY OF THE CENTRAL COAST”.  Artists are invited to submit work on August 25 for exhibition sponsored by NIPOMO ARTS COMMISSION, DANA ADOBE NIPOMO AMIGOS

Artists Tricia Reichert and Maryanne Nucci will be jurors for “Celebrate the beauty of the Central Coast”, an exhibition sponsored by the Nipomo Arts Commission and the Dana Adobe Nipomo Amigos as part of the up-coming third annual “Arts at the Adobe.”   Participating artists will need to bring their work to be juried on Saturday, August 25, to the Blacklake Community Room, 498 Colonial Pl., Nipomo, CA.  There will be a $10 fee for one submission and $5 fee for each additional submission.

“We are looking for fine arts pieces including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, stained glass, mixed media, woodcarving, quilts and photography,” stated Shirley Horacek, President of the Nipomo Arts Commission (NAC).  “We encourage artists to interpret the theme creatively, in ways that best suit their style, medium and individual voice.”

Prize ribbons willl be awarded by category.  The public will participate by selecting a “People’s Choice” award when the exhibit debuts at the third annual “Arts at the Adobe” on Saturday, September 8, 2012, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rancho Nipomo Dana Adobe.  The winners also will be featured in a month-long show in the Shepard Hall Gallery at the Santa Maria Public Library.

Artists also have the opportunity to rent booth space to sell their artwork.  “Arts at the Adobe” also features music, food and refreshments.  Admission to the event is free.
