CALL FOR ARTISTS!

Show off your creations in our annual “Little Treasures” holiday exhibit this December and January!

This well loved annual exhibit is unique in that art must sell for $100 or less for the holiday season. The best gift is a one-of-a-kind piece of art created by one of our local fine artists! Show runs December 3rd through the end of January.

To participate, please fill out this form and drop off with your artwork and entry fee – either Wednesday, November 25th, or Monday, November 30th – between 10am and 4pm.
If you would like us to include your artwork in our advertising, (PLEASE DO!) e-mail us your images with your name, title of your artwork, and medium. ARTIST CONTRACT DOWNLOAD

Instructor: Rebecca Walzer
Contact: mamawalzer33@gmail.com
Subjects and Mediums: A wide variety of lessons, depending on what the families and students want, from postcards to still life paintings. I like to use examples from art history and from around the world, and to draw inspiration from the natural world. I also like to make use of recycled materials when at all possible.  One of my favorite lessons is making flags inspired by Tibetan prayer flags from old white cotton sheets, permanent markers and colored markers. Depending on the availability of supplies and the age of the students, we can also work with oil pastels, printmaking, collage, papermaking and painting with watercolors.  Embroidery is also an option if any are interested in expressing themselves with thread!
Age Group: Children of all ages! Interested in working with students, or groups of students, at home following social distancing guidelines: either outdoors or with masks and spaced out, but open to suggestions!
“I’ve lived on the central coast for almost thirty years, and I raised my three daughters here.  When not doing art I spend my time in my garden, exploring the dunes, backpacking in Big Sur, making elaborate meals with my eldest daughter and playing make believe with my granddaughter.
Before things closed in the spring I was teaching art in the public schools through Children’s Creative Project, which I’ve been doing for twelve years.  I’ve had the opportunity to teach a wide variety of student populations, preschool through adult;  regular ed, deaf and hard of hearing, medically fragile, autistic, emotionally disturbed and migrant education students.”

R&F ENCAUSTICS AND PIGMENT STICKS
R&F Core Instructors Jeff HirstLisa Pressman, and Susan Stover, along with artists Paula Roland and Helen Dannelly have taught and exhibited together, as well as collaborated to teach workshops. This year, in a direct response to student requests to stay connected and go deeper with content, they banded together to create Catalyst Art Lab, an online space to gather and learn. There you will find live and recorded class offerings in multiple mediums, as well as a robust and engaging artist community. Membership options allow students access to weekly live Zoom “office hours,” as well as critique sessions to help you stay connected and motivated while learning about materials and processes.

Enrollment is now open and new members will be accepted until Friday, November 20. To read our blog post with more information, visit R&F’s blog Unique Color. To learn about membership, check out Catalyst Art Lab.
