Welcome, Richard!

Richard Rowe has been making pottery since 1972.  He studied ceramics at Cal State Fullerton under Jerry Rothman and graduated with degrees in art and history in 1976.  For the next 30 years he sold his wares at galleries and art festivals throughout the southwestern United States.

In 1988, he and his wife Sandy moved to Cayucos, where he opened Cayucos Clay Works, a studio and showspace.  During this time he taught College for Kids at Cuesta College and did several workshops for Children’s Creative Projects.  He also worked on the planning committee for the Open Studios Tour in its early years.  A mosaic sculpture in Cayucos features tiles made at the Clayworks in support of the mural.

For the last five years, Richard has been a member of numerous Succulent Societies in California and has made unknown numbers of planters for the popular and unusual plants.  He shows in succulent shows around the state.  His planters may also be found at Desert Creations in Northridge, CA.

His limited editions and one-of-a-kind pieces are in private collections all over the world.

Come in this Friday night for Art After Dark, and help us welcome Richard to Art Central Gallery!
