Welcoming HOLLY BEALS to our Gallery!

With insatiable creative curiosity, Holly’s mixed media works combine acrylic painting and paper collage techniques, walking the line between dream world and reality. Deeply held convictions propel and permeate Holly’s work. Some things she will never stop believing: life has meaning, each person is significant, and the one who made all things is beautiful beyond comprehension.

About the artist:
After graduating from Chico State with a BA in communications, I worked as a graphic designer for six years. But new adventures were calling and I was blessed with the opportunity to teach conversational English to college students in Tibet. What a wild and beautiful ride that was, full of ups and downs.

One day, in my tiny teacher’s apartment, I grabbed some scrap paper, acrylic paint and magazine clippings. In the midst of a really rough day, painting was so satisfying and the perfect soul therapy. So began my love for mixed media painting. Now, I find myself in the midst of yet another great adventure, being a mother to two young (energetic!) boys. If I’m not in the studio, you’ll probably find me chasing after said kiddos, spending time outdoors, or in my comfy pants watching episodes on Hulu with the hubs.

Stop by our gallery during store hours to see her beautiful work first-hand!

be sure to check out our current exhibit
“Snail Mail Prints” with the Central Coast Print Makers!

This Exhibit ends August 30th

About the exhibit:

“Because of Covid isolation advisories, we printmakers stopped in person meetings. Not surprisingly, we really missed them and the intimacy and friendship our group had developed over the years. To keep connected we started art projects that we Snail Mailed to each other often with written comments and explanations.

One project was the Exquisite Corpse game. It was popularized, but not really invented, by the Surrealists in the early 1920’s. In our version every member artist began an original print and mailed it to the next artist on their list who added to it and so on until the print returned to the original artist.  The idea was to complete your addition within one week and mail it on.

These projects kept us working and talking to each other. For me it was so very valuable. I felt less alone and more motivated to make art. We sometimes communicated by phone or email to discuss ideas or to figure out who really was next on the list. These projects were a life saver.”
