WESTERN THEMED EXHIBIT
It’s finally here! This exhibit runs from August 5th through October 3rd, 2022
Artist’s Reception will be held Saturday, August 6th from 2-4pm, come meet the local artists of our western-themed exhibit!
“Research has found that making art can activate reward pathways in the brain, reduce stress, lower anxiety levels and improve mood.”
“But why art? When patients have a hard time putting feelings into words, drawing, painting, sculpting, making collages, creating personalized papier-mâché masks and engaging in other practices can help them unlock their emotions and translate them into something real. In the process, they’re able to share a bit of what they’re going through with the folks around them. Like other forms of therapy, art is also a safer, healthier way to channel stress and other negative emotions into action compared to destructive or harmful choices.”

The Charles Paddock Zoo presents ‘Wild About Art’ on August 6th from 10 am until 3 pm.
Everyone will have an opportunity to watch as the zoo’s animal residents create their own, unique and artistic pieces. Zoo visitors will also be able to create lots of fun arts and crafts too, with plenty of opportunities for children to color, paint, and more. In addition, talented local artists will be on hand to showcase their artwork for sale.
This is an opportunity to work with a live model in a more spontaneous, more emotional arena, focusing on movement and gesture. Participants may choose to sculpt the whole figure, a torso or a bas relief during this workshop with a short pose of 3.5 hours.
This is also an opportunity for artists who would like to experience sculpting the human form in clay. You probably won’t have time to detail the small features, like hands, feet and facial features.
