Call for YOUNG Artists!

Our next gallery exhibit “Wonders of the Oak Woodlands” features the artwork of young artists of San Luis Obispo County while fundraising for the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County.

The goal of this exhibit is to inspire youth to creatively showcase animal and plant diversity found within SLO County’s oak woodlands, while spotlighting the amazing talents of youth artists and providing a space for young people to express the importance of oak habitat conservation through visual art.

If you know any young artists who are into drawing or painting wildlife, please send this their way for a chance to win some scholarship money and an opportunity to show their artwork in our gallery!

Please fill out the form below and mail or drop it off with your artwork to the Land Conservancy’s office
at 1137 Pacific St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. Artwork can be shown in clear sleeves available at Art Central (framing not required but encouraged). You can submit up to three works of art for display in the show. Artwork submissions are due by Tuesday, September 28th at 4 pm. A Committee of volunteers will make the selections of prize winners and announce award recipients on Friday, October 15th.

“For myself, a perfect canvas of sorts, with
3D projection, such great abstract shapes,
giving a zapper factor. The plastic is the interior door shelving from a refrigerator.
For stability backed with plywood.
  Enjoy.” – Steve
Pastel artwork by Thomas Frey
“This pastel painting is 12 x 9 on Multimedia Pastel Artist Panel. The ground is Golden’s Micaceous Iron Oxide, randomly applied. Underpainting with Holbein hard pastel rubbed in with foam insulation, then soft pastel. There is definite glitter in certain areas due to the ground showing through. It was an interesting experiment.” -Tom
