Saturday, March 16th Meryl Perloff “Creative Boxes” One day Workshop (5 hours) 10 am – 3pm
Fee: $50 + Materials if registered by Monday, March 11. ($55 + materials after March 11th)
A guided approach to learning the basic techniques for making decorative and functional boxes is the focus of this workshop. After learning the basics, adding variations, additional elements and other creative possibilities are available to explore. Unique handmade structures can be fun to make and may be functional or just inventive. Exercise your imagination with us! Skill level: proficiency with cutting tools (utility and craft knives) and a patient temperament.

Thursday, March 28th Ardella Swanberg “Art Journaling” 3 hour workshop 1 – 4pm
Fee: $15 if registered by March 22, $20 after March 22nd.
Have you always wished you had kept a record of your trips, life or thoughts? This class will discuss the various types of journals available and how to use them. Have you ever thought of altering a book to make a journal? Watercolor, watercolor pencil, acrylic, pen and ink will be demonstrated and available experimentation. You will learn how to make a small journaling kit ready to go on your next cruise or the next time you step outside on a sunny day. There will be many examples of various approaches, journals and materials.

Saturday, April 6th Shirley Horacek: “Watercolor/Mixed Media Using Elegant Writer” 3 hour workshop, 10 – 1pm.
Fee: $30 + materials if registered by April 1. ($35 + materials after April 1st)
Enhance your watercolors with mixed media by creating lines using an Elegant Writer, adding collaged rice paper, spotlighting color with Neocolor II Aquarelle Crayons. This process creates strong value contrasts.

This Class is a short introduction to oil painting. We will go over basic supplies, a working process and do a monochromatic painting together. For beginners or artists looking to try a new medium.

Saturday, April 20th Shirley Horacek: “Watercolor Batik Using Masa Paper” 3 hour workshop, 10 – 1pm.

A lovely batik-look texture is created using watercolor on masa paper. Fun to learn process that can be used with any subject matter. Some materials provided.

Thurs-Sat, April 25th-27th Jo-Neal Boic: “Intro to Drawing” 3 day workshop, 10 – 4pm.
Fee: $125 + materials if registered by April 20. ($150 + materials after April 20th)
This 3-day workshop will be an introduction to drawing. We will cover the fundamentals, including contour line, form and modeling and experience a variety of media. You will learn techniques to improve your observational drawing skills and will find that as your abilities improve, your perception of the world around you will as well…in a good way!

Thurs –Sat, May 9th-11th Chris Van Winkle “Advanced Watercolor Techniques” 3 day workshop, 10 – 4pm.

This 3-day intensive workshop is for intermediate and advanced students, and will be an opportunity to refine your technique; includes how to plan for a successful painting, the role of value in a painting, and the effects of color – both intense and muted – on the drama and visual excitement of your scene.
