“Sunbonnet Sue in the Garden of Coronavirus” Fabric, hand embroidered by Ellen November

Attached is an image of a painting I did at Bass Lake 2 weeks ago. I’ve been struggling to pick up my brushes while sheltering at home, but a little opportunity to do some plein air work restored my creativity. Thank you for providing a virtual gallery to support local SLO artists. “The Early Bird” Oil on linen (Raymar archival panel) 9*12 by Lorraine Cote

“This is the third pc., of Series. ( found / known / objects ) Title : ” FREQUENCY ” Again working with different materials. The size is 34w x 23h” – Steve Andrews

“Brothers” This is a painting of two of my four super hero nephews, Connor and Clark. I am hoping with their super powers that we can find hope in our future. by Elizabeth Chaney

‘Gin and Tonic’©’20 18”x 24” Oil on canvas paper. This is my tribute to a wonderful woman known as “Jay”. She had a sharp wit, a wonderful sense of style, enjoyed her daily gin and tonic and loved her family. by Elizabeth Chaney

‘Mable’©’20 16” x 20” Acrylic and Oil on Canvas. I recently moved to the country and am inspired by all the adorable cows that are peppered throughout the hillsides. I love their expressions and movements. – by Elizabeth Chaney

’Truth in Transparency’©’20, 16” x 16” Oil on panel. As Covid-19 changed the world as we know it, the need for truth and science emerged as an ever so important source for information. To me, Dr. Anthony Fauci is the voice of reason through the constant change that is occurring all around us. I feel he has been disrespected and largely ignored by those who maintain power in the US. This is my tribute to him. Truth in transparency. by Elizabeth Chaney

I have some comments for artists whose work appears in the art central 7/10 blog post… please forward all my comments to the artists… TYVM
Kari Applegate – “cayucos shipwreck”: wonderful piece. the title should have been ‘usa shipwreck’; because we are ALL in a shipwreck the likes of which this country has never seen. personally, and sadly, i think it’s too late to ‘right us’. but that’s ok. because for something better to be built in its place, it’s sometimes necessary to raze the previous structure to the ground. thankfully we have the perfect government in place to do just that!!! =;o)
Steve Andrews – “frequency”: awesome piece!!!! wow! my interpretation: for months now we have all been isolated in our own personal microwave ovens. we have been bombarded with sharp, pointed waves of anti-science, faux news, faux facts (and ‘alt facts’), faux science, anti-galvanizing and divisive rhetoric. I AM in that microwave, and it is NOT protecting me from the harmful waves coming from all directions!!! i recently tried my hand at a small zen-tangle piece – which was full of long pointy triangles similar to your piece. “frequency” also screams [to me] that we are all a picture – a facade – within another picture/reality that is as UN-real as a reality could be. that is in fact, more like what the perfect interpretation of what hell would be, if it existed. well it does exist, and we’re living in it. some of us simply don’t know, deny, or bury their head in the sand to avoid acknowledging that fact. love this piece.
Elizabeth Chaney – “truth in transparency”: wow – VERY nice portrait. very timely. an ode to my interpretation of Steve’s “frequency” – fauci has been the target of an attack against science, and the dissemination of the very best information we have. this assault is now being shifted into high gear, and he is about to be smeared with all the spin and bullspit that an abusive smear campaign can muster. a wonderful tribute to a man trying to do his best in the most anti-science, anti-transparency environment this country has seen. i hope that fauci see’s at least some of the appreciation of him, and his attempts to do what’s right.
– “gin and tonic”: don’t have anything to say about the piece – i just think we could all use mass destructively large quantities of gin and tonic right now. it’s morning for me now; but it’s sure as frack G&T time somewhere, and that’s good enough for me! send me resupply of gin, and tonic water!!!!!! FAST!!!!! (also something to break me out of my microwave, AND the fake reality that it’s set within!!!!)
All of the above: your works are appreciated!
