Are you an artist with business & people skills? We are looking for someone to be a key part of our team. Our primary focuses for our customers are exemplary service and competitive pricing. We’re looking for someone with some retail experience, including inventory management, merchandising, marketing and sales, as well as a solid knowledge of various art supplies.

This is a part time position:  2-3 days week, 14-20 hours (may occasionally include weekends, and [rarely] evenings.)

Job Duties:

Greeting customers, offering assistance, escorting them to appropriate products; suggesting items.

Providing information on products.

Receiving shipments, checking stock, pricing product.

Assisting with social media, gallery exhibits, workshops & events.

Cleaning and organizing product and store.

Requirements:

MUST HAVE GOOD KNOWLEDGE ABOUT A VARIETY OF ART SUPPLIES

must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

must have basic computer skills.

must be a team player.

must be VERY self-motivated.

must be VERY comfortable in a busy, multi-tasking environment

Plein Air Coastal Artists – Art Center Morro Bay

Join Art Center Morro Bay’s casual group of plein air painters on Wednesdays! This is a self-directed fun group of dynamic artists who enjoy painting and sketching outdoors. The group meets at pre-determined locations each week.

Aquarius 2023 – Call for Artists – Art Center Morro Bay

The Central Coast Watercolor Society announces Aquarius 2023 California Open Watermedia Exhibition, to be held February 23 – April 3, 2023, at Art Center Morro Bay, 835 Main Street, Morro Bay, CA.

Aquarius 2023 presents the best in watermedia painting, representing a wide range of subject material and techniques, from experimental to traditional, and encourages support for watermedia painting as a vital, enduring and expressive artistic medium.

The call for entries is open to CCWS members as well as to non-member watermedia artists residing in California. Submissions open December 1, 2022 and close at midnight January 8, 2023.

Painting the Head in Oils with Warren Chang – Art Center Morro Bay

In this oil painting workshop, participants will get an inside look into Warren Chang’s art practice and learn how to paint a head to the final painting, using a limited palette.

Warren will give a slide presentation revealing his process of creating his unique narrative paintings. By the end of this 2-day workshop, each participant will have a final painting inspired by Warren’s unique approach to painting that gives a window into his practice.

For the Birds – Call for Artists – Art Center Morro Bay

Art Center Morro Bay is proud to present For the Birds. This exhibition celebrates the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival and everything about the birds and habitats that are indigenous to the Central Coast.

For this exhibit, please submit artworks that celebrate birds! This exhibit is open to all mediums, MBAA Members and Non-Members. There are no size requirements for this show. Artists are limited to (3) wall hung entries, (10) note cards or (2) packages of note cards, (5) portfolio prints, (3) sculptures and jewelry.

Please submit artwork with entry forms and wire tags in person on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, 10am – 2pm.

Back to Basics with Charlene Martyn – Atascadero Art Association

Join the Atascadero Art Association for their meeting on January 19th, the third Thursday of the month from 3:00 to 5:00 at the Atascadero Library in the Polin room upstairs.

The meeting will feature Charlene Martyn who will be giving a demonstration called, “Back to Basics.” She’ll demonstrate Contour Drawing, Blind Contour, Shapes and Shadows…There will be audience participation and the hope that everyone will share her excitement in art and learn a few techniques.

Professional Fine Wire Wrapping with Li Li Clever – Art Center Morro Bay

Learn fine wire wrapping technique utilizing 3 tools; needle nose, flat tip and cutting pliers along with ½ hard silver-plated round wire and a great variety of beads provided by the artist. Please feel free to bring existing jewelry projects for inspiration from the artist.

WHEN: January 28, 2023, 1-4pm
COST: $110 Members; $125 Non-Members for the 1-day workshop.

Telling Your Story & Bringing Vibrancy and Energy into your Work with Toni Danchik – Art Center Morro Bay

Join Art Center Morro Bay for an afternoon of learning about how living in South Africa impacted Toni Danchik and her heart to tell the stories of women and children, especially those living in shanty towns and rural Africa, and how she endeavors to connect her work to purpose.

Now she resides in Southern California where she has been exposed to the Plein Air movement. She will do a demo on her process & procedures to bring vibrancy into her work. Toni will also show slides and a video about South Africa which will precede her painting demo.

This is the Morro Bay Art Association’s free monthly demo meeting.
